Varieties
Hazelnuts are typically harvested from late-September to mid-October. Barcelona is the primary variety traditionally grown in the Pacific Northwest. Ennis are are known for their large grade and oblong nut shape. Jefferson and Dorris are larger nuts and are known to have an exceptional flavor profile. Yamhill, Lewis, McDonald and Wepster produce a smaller nut, referred to as a kernel variety versus the larger in-shell varieties.
