Rice Hulls for Bedding
For horse and livestock bedding, the hulls:
– Are allergen friendly
– Produce minimal dust
– Offer efficient cleaning and less waste as they fall through the fork easier
– Reduce felling of trees
– Reduce odor as the waxy coating minimizes the ammonia scent
– Are flame resistant
Rice Hulls for Winemaking
We offer bulk rice hulls for winemaking to help improve press production efficiency while imparting no flavor. These all-natural hulls are Non-GMO, chemical residue tested, lot tracked and can be used for mechanically harvested grapes, off-grade grapes, white varieties and more to help:
– Improve internal drainage
– Increase juice yield by up to 30%
– Enhance filterability
Rice hulls are available in 50 lb. bales, 500 lb. totes and in bulk truckloads. Organic rice hulls are available upon request.
Rice Hulls for Brewing
The hulls are used extensively to open up the mash bed for brewers to:
– Prevent Stuck Mashes
– Improve Wort Flow through Mash or Lauter
– Help Extract More Liquid
– Impart No Flavor or Color to the Brew
– Improve Lautering Efficiency and Time
Rice Hulls for Horticulture
These hulls are an all-natural, sustainable alternative to perlite. They are first screened to remove foreign material and the majority of weed seeds. The hulls are then introduced to a proprietary process that renders any weed seeds non-viable and unable to germinate. They provide all the benefits of rice hulls without the potential for weed growth.
Applications include uses as soil inputs, top dressing, vegetable transplants and grass seed carrier by greenhouses, hydroponic operations and nurseries, as well as by landscapers.
Rice Byproducts for Feed
A mixture of rice byproducts, including ground hulls and bran, can be a good feed additive for livestock and poultry. They can also be used as a fiber source, premix, and pellet binder. The hulls are generally used in limited quantities in ruminant feeds when other roughages are lacking or to reduce feeding cost. Only high-quality rice hulls, free from mold, dust, and other materials, should be used for animal feeding. Fieldcraft offers hulls as well as bran, screenings, mixes and ground products for feed.
