Upcycled Ingredients and Suppliers
Aquafaba is an incredible liquid that replaces eggs with less fat and 0% cholesterol. Aquafaba can be used in many sweet and savory recipes. Sesajal supplies conventional and Organic Aquafaba and Haden’s Hummus offer conventional and identity preserved Aquafaba.
Baobab Powder is packed full of antioxidants, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and prebiotic fiber. Its taste is naturally sweet & tangy and good for all ages. Baobab Powder blends well into everything from smoothies, juices, yogurts, cereals, granolas, chips, sauces, baking mixes and more. Baobab powder is nearly 50% fiber, 28% of that is prebiotic fiber which feeds the good bacteria in the gut, supports the immune system and promotes healthy digestion.
Brewers Grain Flour comes from the number one byproduct from the brewing industry. After the brewer removes the carbohydrates from barley in a process known as mashing, what remains is just protein and fiber. Check out SuperGrain+, a milled powder from ReGrained that resembles a toasted flour with great flavor, aroma and functional properties. Malted Barley Flour is also available from Grain4Grain. The flour is 100% upcycled and only goes through a mechanical dryer and mechanical flour mill, so there is no compromise to flavor or nutrition in the process.
Distillers Grain Flour from NETZRO marks the first time that upcycled grain from a distillery is commercially available as an ingredient. During the distilling process the sugars are extracted, then using NETZRO proprietary technology, the spent grains are restored leaving behind the nutritious fiber and protein. NETZRO offers Corn Flour and Rye Flour.
Fruit Juice comes from “seconds,” or the vegetables and fruits that don’t win beauty contests (but taste great). Greenhouse Juice, a vertically integrated company, makes their Fruit Juices SQF and HACCP certified plants. Their juices are cold-pressed and light filtered to protect nutrients. They don’t use additives, preservatives, stabilizers or gums, and they don’t rely on added sugars or sweet fruits to make their juices taste great.
Fruit Powder includes Fruit Pulp Fiber is supplied by NETZRO and comes from cold-pressed juicing and is a superfood ingredient full of fiber. Genius Foods produces everything from Apple to Tomato Powders.
Oat and Soy Flours are made by Renewal Mill. They take the byproducts of plant-based milk and turn them into nutritious, high fiber gluten-free Oat and Soy Flours. They sell those flours directly and also use them in a line of value-added products including 1-to-1 baking flour, “just add oil and water” baking mixes, and RTE cookies.
Pomegranate Extract is produced by POM Wonderful, the largest grower and producer of fresh pomegranates and pomegranate juice in the United States. Liquid Pomegranate Extract Concentrate is a highly concentrated, water extracted blend of polyphenol antioxidants derived from California pomegranates.
